Swine Flu and AMEE 2009 (posted 19 June)
Some participants have been asking about the potential impact of the Swine Flu Pandemic on AMEE 2009, in light of the WHO’s decision to raise the level of influenza pandemic alert from phase 5 to phase 6. The WHO recommend no travel restrictions, and the probability of cases of swine flu in Spain over the summer months is low. The Local Organising Committee is in contact with the Spanish Public Health Service about sanitary precautions that could be implemented at Palacio de Ferias y Congresos to minimise transmission of any potential viruses, and AMEE will regularly monitor WHO recommendations. No impact on AMEE 2009 is envisaged, and it is intended that the Conference and all its related activities will proceed as scheduled.
