Certificates of Attendance

Certificates of attendance for the main conference (6-8 September) will be included in delegate packs for those registered prior to 1 September.

Delegates registering after the 1 September and onsite registrants may request a certificate of attendance onsite at the conference. These will be prepared and issued after the conference.

Specific certificates can be requested onsite at the conference and will be prepared and issued afterwards.


Children

Children are not permitted to attend any of the academic sessions and should not be left unaccompanied at any time at the SECC or University of Glasgow premises.


CME Accreditation

Credits are being requested from the UK Royal Colleges.

A register of attendance will be available to sign after lunch on Wednesday 8th September, and certificates of participation will be provided in delegate packs.


Currency

The currency in the UK is the Pound. At the time of going to press with the Provisional Programme (December 2009) the exchange rate is: €1=£0.91; $1=£0.60.

Banking: The majority of banks are open Mon-Fri 0900-1700 with some city centre offices open Saturday morning. Automatic Teller Machines (ATMs) are widely available throughout the area and most are linked to Cirrus, Maestro or Plus international money systems. Visitors are advised to check with their local bank prior to travelling.

Bureau de Change facilities can be found at the airports, train stations, most city centre banks, Tourist Information Centres and travel outlets. Glasgow, Abington and Hamilton Tourist Information Centres operate Bureau de Change and Western Union Money Transfer Services.

Credit cards such as VISA, Mastercard, American Express, Diners Club and JCB are accepted almost everywhere.


Language

All conference sessions will be conducted in English.


Weather

September is one of the best months to visit Scotland, with about 14 hours of daylight. The weather can be somewhat unpredictable, so remember to pack a jacket and umbrella just in case ;-)

Electricity

The standard voltage in Scotland is 240V AC, 50Hz. North American appliances need a transformer and an adapter; Australasian appliances need only an adaptor. Plugs have 3 square pins and adapters are widely available.


Travel Insurance

It is strongly recommended that delegates arrange their own travel insurance to cover the loss of possessions, money and any health or dental treatment.


Smoking

Scotland introduced a new law in March 2006 which bans smoking in public places. The law includes all enclosed or partley enclosed public areas.
