AMEE 2010 How to contribute to the programme

Everyone is encouraged to contribute to the sessions by asking questions and joining in the discussion. An audience response system will be available for presenters of plenaries and symposia.

Presentation formats include: research papers, PhD reports, short communications, posters, Fringe presentations, Secrets of Success and conference workshops.

Abstract submitters have now been notified if it was possible to include their abstract in the programme. Due to the high number of submissions received, only one presentation per participant has been accommodated.

We are unable to accept any further abstract submission for AMEE 2010.

Abstract submissions cover any topic in medical and healthcare professions education relating to undergraduate/basic training, postgraduate/specialist training or continuing professional development/ continuing medical education.

Abstracts were invited for presentation in the following formats:

Research papers: Themed sessions reporting original research, 4 presentations per session. Each presentation is 12 minutes, followed by 8 minutes for discussion. Time is allocated at the end of the session for general discussion.

PhD reports: Presentations based on the participant’s PhD thesis, 4 presentations per session. Each presentation is 12 minutes, followed by 8 minutes for discussion. Time is allowed at the end of the session for general discussion.

Short communications: Simultaneous, themed sessions are included throughout the programme, with approximately five or six presentations per session. Each presentation is ten minutes, followed by 5 minutes for discussion. In some sessions, 15 minutes is allocated for general discussion at the end.

Posters: Posters are mounted throughout the Conference, and presenters are asked to give a 2- minute presentation of the key messages of the poster in themed sessions, followed by discussion.

Fringe: Approximately 15-20 minutes are allocated to each presentation. There is no prescribed format, and presenters may use the time however they wish, with the emphasis on interactivity and engagement with the audience.

Conference workshops: Session times vary between 90 minutes and 2 hours. Workshops should be highly interactive and participative.

Secrets of Success: Each ‘Secret of Success’ selected is allocated a small exhibition stand for 90 minutes, in order to demonstrate the initiative or resource three times sequentially to different audiences.
