Ottawa Conference

The Ottawa Conference on the Assessment of Competence in Medicine and the Healthcare Professions were set up by Professor Ian Hart (Ottawa, Canada) and Professor Ronald Harden (Dundee, UK) in 1985. Held biennially, they provide a forum for medical and other healthcare professions educators to network and share ideas on all aspects of the assessment of competence in both clinical and non-clinical domains, throughout the continuum of education.




15th Ottawa Conference, Kuala Lumpur 2012

The 15th Ottawa Conference: Assessment of Competence in Medicine and the Healthcare Professions will be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 9-13 March 2012. The conference will re-examine the recommendations relating to assessment developed during the 14th Ottawa Conference in Miami in May 2010 and will look at the developments since then. It will also address what is recognised as good practice in the area of assessment and a number of themes will be covered. The local host is the International Medical University (IMU) in collaboration with AMEE – An International Association for Medical Education.

14th Ottawa Conference, Miami 2010

The 14th Ottawa Conference was held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, 400 S.E. 2nd Avenue, Miami, FL 33131, USA from 15-20 Mary 2010. The Meeting was co-hosted by: University of Miami, Michael S Gordon Center for Research in Medical Education, Miller School of Medicine, University of Miami and AMEE - An International Association for Medical Education.
