Leila Niemi-Murola, a Consultant Anaesthesiologist at the University of Helsinki, has been appointed as the Programme Chair for the AMEE 2023 Conference taking place in Glasgow from the 26th to 30th of August.

Since attending her first AMEE conference in 2002, Leila has been involved with many different aspects of AMEE. Leila was one of the first Associate Fellows of AMEE and was appointed as a member of the Postgraduate Committee in 2020. Leila also has a Masters in Medical Education from the Karolinska Institute, Stockholm.

Leila says of the role, "It is a great honour for me to be appointed as the chair of the programme committee. The congress has always been the highlight of my working year and I have enjoyed the innovative AMEE ambience, I have always had new perspectives and insights in the congress – the spirit is innovative, encouraging, and welcoming. I am looking forward to the challenge of working with the rest of the committee to bring together an exciting programme for what promises to be a fantastic conference in Glasgow. I have always found the AMEE conference so inspiring and am focused on ensuring that everyone will leave AMEE 2023 with their motivation and enthusiasm at the highest level."

AMEE will be appointing a Deputy Programme Chair in January 2023 and the successful applicant will then go on to become Chair of the AMEE 2024 Conference Programme.
